We all know Liv Tyler and Givenchy are joined at the hip. They pay her for appearing in their beauty campaigns, and she returns the favor by toting one of their hot handbags. Unfortunately, this one falls flat with me. The craftsmanship is no doubt impeccable, but the oversized crested logo triggers my Juicy Couture reflex. And with so many fabulous Givenchy purses to choose from (hello, Nightingale), I’d have to keep this one on the back burner.

I want, I want, I want this purse! So glam-rock gorgeous and just the right amount of fabulous, Swathed in cool violet crinkled metallic leather, the tote sports three sparkly studs and a detachable shoulder strap. Okay, so maybe it has a whiff or two of teeny-bopper princessy influence (glitter? sparkly?), but I think we big girls can still join the party. With the economy in the crapper, so to speak, I’ve been on the hunt for fabulous designer handbags on the cheap (I know, I know - easier said than done!). That’s why I’ve pounced on this great Mayle Samira Folded Clutch, which also comes in navy. A steal at $225, the color-blocked party-ready clutch sports a sweet violet satin band down the center, with black piping and a fierce zipper closure. I’m of the opinion that you really, really have to love, love, love something in order to splurge these days. I mean, you have to want to marry it. So I’m curious as to how many people will be lining up to get their hands on the Coach Legacy Crocodile Medium Duffle, a roomy, dark brown carryall with all the functional necessities to its credit. It’s one of those goes-with-everything bags that will do well over time if you don’t get too bored by its general simplicity. With its $12,000 price tag (and with the likes of Nancy Gonzalez to compete with), I’m not exactly whipping out my credit card. Do we love it - or have they gone nuts? Available at Coach.

Ladies and gents, the doctor is IN. Seriously. I don’t know about you, but I’m emitting major heart bubbles over this chic and streamlined Marc by Marc Jacobs Dr. Q Magazine Clutch. The shape is so simple and slim, yet still modern (it IS Marc, after all), but it’s really the coral hue that gets me - just like an orange creamsicle on a summer day. One of the prettier Coach purses I’ve seen in quite a while, the new Resort Leather Shoulder Tote has spring written all over it. In a pretty pink color that will work well with so many other shades, it’s surprisingly versatile and will look great with everything from dresses and sandals to denim and boots. The knotted leather handle is one of my favorite details - it’s sturdy and provides great balance for the spacious bag. A drawstring closure and two exterior pockets complete the look. The small collection of bags are lined in hemp, biodegradable as well as water-resistant.  The bags are crafted with an innovative tanning technique that results in metal-free colored leathers without pollutants. A snakeskin handbag with heart-patterned wellies? Er, okay. We’ll cut Jessica Alba some slack seeing as she’s a new mom who’s probably too busy to worry about clashing when she throws her clothes on.
